Chiang Mai existed in obscure splendor for centuries, but TGS students quickly discovered the potential Lanna King Mengrai saw back in 1296. Built on high fertile ground, this ancient walled city with its defensive moat and canals has remarkably retained its Lanna heritage and cultural identity while embracing increased modernization and a campaign to be declared a UNESCO Creative City.
This is a country of jungle trekking, caving, elephant preservation parks, mountain biking, waterfalls, and whitewater rafting. Much like the Thai delicacies we created in cooking school, it’s just a taste of what Chiang Mai and the ‘Land of Smiles’ have to offer.

Prem Tinsulanonda International School (PTIS) is part of the “three-generation” Traidhos learning community located in the Mae Rim district of Chiang Mai. An IB World School, PTIS accommodates both boarding and day students. Its Exploria program, which integrates academics, sports, arts, and service, is similar in spirit to THINK Global School’s WeXplore program. The school shares a 100-acre estate with an organic farm, two hotels, a spa, and academies for cooking, golf, cricket, football, and tennis. These grounds are in turn surrounded by lagoons and rice paddies, making for a truly beautiful setting that embodies PTIS’s commitment to environmental sustainability.
