Read MoreOne of the great points of intersection between education and entrepreneurship is that you sometimes don’t know that you’re looking for something until it’s staring at you in the face. The really elusive solution may have been elusive because it didn’t dawn on us to focus our view close up.
We at THINK Global School were invited last week to take part in the @elemenous Future of Education Global Awareness Panel.
What a great experience that was. While we meet people all over the world who share our view at THINK Global School that kids need to be agents of change in the world and that we have to lead the global education system towards an evolution that will make this happen, it’s rare that I meet with an amazing, dynamic group of these people at the same time. And the fact that all of us all over the world met virtually (and technologically seamlessly, may I add) made it that much more special.
The group that ran the conference has a Ning (is “Ning” capitalized? I never really know) called “The Global Education Collaborative,” which can be found at http://globaleducation.ning.com/
We looked at so many issues the other night, including (and I’m taking this straight from the live Twitter feed that I was trying to maintain as I participated in the conference and message board – the technology multitasking that our kids today do so remarkably well):
“Global networking and collaboration are THE skills kids need for the future.”
“How do we cultivate global competencies in students?”
“How can schools infuse global awareness into highly relevant curricular content.”
There was so much more – so much amazing food for thought as we at TGS build the world’s first globally mobile high school. It was great to talk to leading educators from Sydney, Bangkok, all over the US and Canada, Ireland and so many more places – so interesting when we really dig deep into the threshold issues that face global education and to see the ties that bind education and educators worldwide.
