University counseling at TGS combines practical application support with long-term mentorship. From the first term onward, students receive guidance tailored to their evolving sense of purpose.
Family Guidance: Support regarding timelines, financial aid, scholarships, visas, and the emotional transition into university life.
Standardized Testing Support: Individualized guidance for the preparation and registration of US and international entrance assessments, including the SAT, ACT, and AP exams. Students self-study for the tests, and we recommend resources for test prepping.
Transcript & Academic Profile Management: We ensure the rigor of our competency-based curriculum is clearly communicated through detailed transcripts and contextual documentation.
University Matching & Exploration: Identifying institutions worldwide that value curiosity, global citizenship, and independent research.
Essay & Application Mentorship: Extensive feedback on personal statements and portfolios, teaching students to communicate their experiences with depth.
Grade 11 focuses on discovery. Students begin identifying the questions and interests that will shape their university journey.
Connecting Experience to Direction: Learning how lived experiences evolve into academic interests. Example: A student might connect ecological fieldwork in Botswana and systems thinking in Japan into a future pathway in environmental policy.
In Grade 12, the counseling relationship intensifies as students move from exploration into active applications and decision-making.
Our university preparation extends far beyond receiving those coveted acceptance letters. By graduation, our students have already learned to adapt to unfamiliar environments and manage complexity through living and learning across eight different countries.
They leave TGS prepared not only for university admissions, but for the realities of life beyond high school: navigating global issues, collaborating across cultures, and continuing to learn with purpose in an interconnected world.
