Read MoreONE OF THE DISTINCT BENEFITS for students attending THINK Global School is the integration of our weXplore program into their curriculum. This provides students with an opportunity to conceptualize ideas in the classroom before immersing themselves into their surroundings where they can gain firsthand experience. In both the classroom setting and time spent out in the field our faculty and students are encouraged to integrate technology into the mix, resulting in memorable media that can easily be shared online with a large audience.
A recent visit to Iguazú Falls in the northern region of Argentina provided IB Language and Literature teacher Breanna Reynolds and her students an opportunity to get creative with this experiential concept. Breanna encouraged her class to “serve as a voice for nature”, by assuming the role of a news writer/reporter visiting Iguazú Falls. The students were asked to write a news report discussing a pressing social or environmental issue that they had discovered through research, discussions and observations during their journey.
Topics to be focused on in the video included:
- Environmental conservation
- The indigenous rights of the Guarani tribe
- Preservation of the Jesuit Misiones
- The impact that tourism has had on Iguazú Falls
- The impact of Horacio Quiroga’s literature
The assignment was well received by Breanna’s students, and their final submissions provided evidence of the hard work that they put into creating them.
