1) Hi Nada, can you tell us what you've been up to since graduating from THINK Global School in 2022? Since graduating in 2022, I've been pursuing a passion I found while at TGS, sustainability, and I am currently majoring in engineering in renewable energy systems at Al Akhawayn University, in Ifrane, Morocco. But there is way more than that! I've had a chance also to explore the world of...

When the students document these thoughts, we are often delighted with the results. Below you will find a project created by 9th grade student Tiana S. for her teacher, Lee Ann Thomas, and her art class, where she provides a step-by-step walkthrough regarding the creative process she utilized during the creation of her project: “IN YOU, IS IT?”
HOW DO YOU SHOW CONSUMPTION? Well, consumption is a word with many meanings, such as eating, shopping, and so on.
Here is my brainstorm:
Some of the ideas that most popped out to me were “eating” and “products.” So, for eating I wanted to do a mouth, but how can I relate that to products? Well, the mouth could be eating the products. That was my conclusion. There were also other ideas such as television, ignorance and chains along with the details of what they represented. I was able to incorporate ignorance, as in being ignorant of the consumption, with a blindfold.
A question I asked myself was how could I give it more depth? I decided that I could draw a throat, which would take things further than simply eating the product by showing it going into you.
Here are my sketches showing the evolution of the piece:
To start the image, I took a picture of my classmate Sydney M. with a white scarf acting as a blindfold. I put the image into Photoshop and added a throat from a diagram.
Here it is up until that point:
For the next step, I took a lot of product and brand logos from different sources and added them in. Finally, I introduced warping and skewing to the image, which allowed me to make the logos look like they are being pulled into Sydney’s mouth.
Which leads us to my completed piece:
“IN YOU, IS IT?”
