Read MoreWith our 2012-13 school year sadly drawing towards its end, we can now gleefully reminisce on all that our students and faculty accomplished as they made their way across three continents. Our academic adventure began in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and to commemorate his experiences in the “Paris of the South,” Global Studies teacher Nick Martino recently launched an iTunes U course entitled “Understanding the Argentine Identity.”
Understanding the Argentine Identity provides an in-depth look at Argentina’s rich cultural makeup through three lenses:
- Futbol
- Tango
- The iconic Gaucho
Each lens provides a thoroughly unique and engrossing look at a different facet of Argentine culture by recounting our “weXplore” visits to Tango lessons, soccer matches and the famous La Estancia Calendaria, where students saw traditional gauchos dance the malambo and demonstrate excellent horseback riding technique. Nick includes a useful variety of reference materials, videos and student classwork alongside his own writing to aid in his explanation of Argentine culture, all of which are made available for view and download.
