Read MoreSince the first TEDx event took place on March 23, 2009, the popularity of these independent TED events has exploded, and conference organizers around the world are now tasked with putting together groups of engaging speakers who exemplify the TED mission of “ideas worth spreading.” With this in mind, we’re proud to announce that one of our 12th grade students, Yada P., has been selected as a speaker at this Saturday’s TEDx conference in Chiang Mai, Thailand, where she will present her talk on “The Light Footsteps Dance Initiative.”
The Light Footsteps Dance Initiative
The following description comes courtesy of Yada’s website Light Footsteps Dance:
“Light Footsteps is dedicated to raising awareness of the situations of hospital children when it comes to quality of education, and empowering hospital children with chronic diseases through dance education. Many charities provide funds and performances for the hospital children, but Light Footsteps focuses on empowering hospital children so that they will have the self confidence to succeed later in life through the physical, mental, and emotional benefits of dance. The initiative is focused in the Chiang Mai area in Thailand, but is aiming to expand to the online sphere as well.”
