Class of 2024 Spotlight: Three Questions with Rianon T. 🇳🇿

1) In what ways has your perception of traditional education changed since attending THINK Global School?

If I were to have stayed in New Zealand, I would have told you that my school taught me maths, history, and how to take a test every month. However, here I can tell you that my school taught me how to live, operate independently, adapt to change, constantly push myself to be a better and more versatile person, and find the best restaurants on Google Maps. I find that my most predominant learning experiences have been in all the little moments in between our classes. It’s in the moments when I’m running to get the bus in time, when I’m sitting on my room balcony speaking to my roommates from all over the world, and especially when I return home after term to see things in a completely new light. THINK Global School has taught me to constantly look at things from multiple angles, to grab a chance when it appears, and to appreciate everyone and everything around me.

2) Is there a country or experience that you would consider your favorite from your time at TGS?

In terms of locations, Botswana 🇧🇼 will always hold a special place in my heart. Part of that might be because new students always see their first term through rose-tinted glasses, but I believe what makes Botswana so special is the simplicity of the term. There wasn’t the chaos of big cities and confusing public transportation — just a secluded hotel with a big garden and comfortable pool chairs. The term focused on the outdoors and building connections with people inside and outside the school without any distractions. I will always cherish my moments in Botswana, especially the elephants.

3) What advice would you give to future students considering joining THINK Global School?

For new students: I would advise you to be prepared to change and to realise they are not perfect but they are in an environment that will support them and push them to become their most authentic and best self. I hope they will never assume they are right without challenging their beliefs and jump at any opportunity that arises, no matter how strange or foreign it may be. Most of all, I hope future students appreciate it all because it goes by so quickly.
