The Changemaker Curriculum at THINK Global School goes above and beyond to prepare students for the academic and social rigors of university. By letting you guide your own learning and imbuing every aspect of your education with compassion and service, you become a strong candidate who will not only look great on paper, but go on to become a leader in your university community and beyond.
Graduates of THINK Global School leave with a diploma in hand, fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) and recognized by higher education institutions around the world.
Your preparation for the next steps beyond high school begin the moment you arrive. A college and career counselor will support you throughout your time at TGS, and he or she will help you find and narrow down post-secondary options that fit your academic goals, learning style and personality profile. Your education at THINK Global School includes regular, one-on-one sessions with your counselor designed to give you all the tools necessary to navigate the global university admissions process and make a successful transition to the school that is the best fit for you. Our counselor works with each student at every step of the way, helping students realize and achieve their post-THINK Global School goals. This includes assistance with preparation and registration for college entrance assessments such as the US admissions tests, SAT, ACT, and AP exams.
A year-by-year guide to our approach to university counseling:
In Year 1 you’ll work with your dedicated school counselor to identify your interests, values, strengths, personality traits, and learning styles. You’ll start to take an in-depth look at the Changemaker Curriculum and determine how you’ll balance project-based learning modules with student-designed projects to meet graduation requirements. At the same time, you’ll begin contributing to your digital academic portfolio, which will showcase the outcomes of your projects and later serve as a helpful university application tool.
In Year 2 your counselor will help you determine which post-secondary options and career paths are right for you. You’ll brainstorm a list of options in majors and careers, begin in-depth research on those options and familiarize yourself with application requirements, financial fit, and platforms such as the Common Application and Universities and Colleges Admissions Services (UCAS), so you’re prepped and ready when it’s time to apply in Year 3.
During your final year you’ll finalize your list of preferred choices, complete essays, and edit your academic portfolio to showcase your strongest work. Your counselor will be there to offer advice on completing applications, taking entrance exams, and conducting interviews … and will wait with you during those nervous few months before you receive your news!
