Sara not only knows Sweden, she knows what it’s like to grow up and live in cultures other than her own, which helps her identify with the students at THINK Global School. Sara is currently the Vision Holder and manager of Mjuka Flytten, a Swedish-based consultancy working with and for so–called Third Culture Kids—those who’ve lived in one or more cultures other than their own and integrate facets of those cultures into their birth culture to create a new, or third, culture).
Born in Sweden and brought up overseas as a Third Culture Kid herself in Bangladesh, USA, and Vietnam, Sara founded Mjuka Flytten as a result of her thesis research in anthropology at Stockholm University. Working with children, she highlights the importance of acknowledging their need for a solid and steady foundation for identity creation—a feeling of belonging and formation of roots—and she helps them create this foundation without a physical platform.
