As I write this, I'm waiting for our students to return from their weXplore, a five-day excursion that takes students beyond their host city for immersive cultural experiences. Read MoreIndia, we have arrived.
After a long journey, some lost luggage and jet lag, I am pleased to announce that we have arrived safely at the Indus International School in Hyderabad. Excitement and anxiety fill the air as we jump in feet first and embark on this incredible journey. That being said, a journey would not be complete if it did not involve a wave of arrivals spanning twenty-four hours, a few upset stomachs, and the odd mosquito bite or two! Nevertheless, both staff and students – new and old – have resiliently settled into life at TGS, which is something to be proud of.
A successful welcome dinner, followed by a two-day orientation, has provided us with a taste of what to expect during this semester. Students have had the opportunity to get to know each other and experience the diverse worlds that exist within Hyderabad – from the local village to the exquisite hotels downtown. They have also had a chance to explore a nearby village where they will be actively participating in a school community service project. What an enriching experience for us all.
As a new staff member, I would like to wish everyone a fantastic term. I am thrilled to be a part of TGS, and I look forward to embarking on this unique journey together!
