1) Hi Nada, can you tell us what you've been up to since graduating from THINK Global School in 2022? Since graduating in 2022, I've been pursuing a passion I found while at TGS, sustainability, and I am currently majoring in engineering in renewable energy systems at Al Akhawayn University, in Ifrane, Morocco. But there is way more than that! I've had a chance also to explore the world of...
Read MoreWhile enrolled at THINK Global School, students are encouraged to be creative during the course of their studies and travels. When the students document these thoughts, we are often delighted with the results. In “0000-0400: A New Year’s Poem”, 11th grader Pema T. emulates the tradition established by the United States Navy of writing a ship’s first deck log of the New Year in a poetic fashion. 0000-0400: a New Year’s poem was written as a response to THINK Global School’s recent visit to the USS Massachusetts – more affectionately known as “Big Mamie.”
The tide is high with all her might.
I stand alone underneath the moon,
Oh, such a boon this is not.
Pity old me!
I hope my general doesn’t see my log,
For I am such a flop.
Truth be told,
Who enjoys mid-watch during New Year’s Eve?
While my brothers drink their rumps off,
I stand these bumps off.
I shall now focus on the log,
For I might clog with nuisance.
And General is not going to like that.
“Big Mamie,” is anchored in Massachusetts,
The tides hit hard on her sides.
Creepy bogs stray around
And a fog lay ahead of us.
Oh, what a heckles ride
Are we lot facing?
Have we not ridden afar?
I see no sign of fair weather and
As the clock hits 0300,
Did a feather fall.
Call the crew, you should
For a bird just flew above me
Fuel “Big Mamie.”
Time we set out at 0400!
