1) Hi Nada, can you tell us what you've been up to since graduating from THINK Global School in 2022? Since graduating in 2022, I've been pursuing a passion I found while at TGS, sustainability, and I am currently majoring in engineering in renewable energy systems at Al Akhawayn University, in Ifrane, Morocco. But there is way more than that! I've had a chance also to explore the world of...
Read MoreHi Guillermo, can you tell us a bit about yourself?
I grew up in the Canary Islands, Spain, but I have traveled around the world over the last three years with THINK Global School. Some of my main interests are fashion, graphic design, and photography. I love to spend time with my friends and discover new coffee shops as I travel and study. I am also very passionate about the plastic pollution crisis. To give back to my home community while I am not traveling, I like to go to beach clean-ups and help different organizations that organize these events boost their social media content by taking photos for them.
What have been the highlights of your TGS experience, both academically and non-academically?
I believe one of my highlights was holding the final product for my first mastery project, “Laberinto,” which was a collection of 4 graphically designed Tote bags. This was very exciting as I worked on that project for quite a while and encountered multiple creative blocks during my design process. The project’s goal was to learn about graphic design while creating a fun and young brand identity.
Do you have a favorite teacher-led module or personal project that you’ve worked on?
My favorite personal project is my second mastery project. I wanted to find my own unique style of photography by only shooting with film and exploring different styles. I am creating various magazines to showcase my photography and progress — I find it a fantastic way of documenting my senior year while expressing my creative vision through a camera.
What has been your favorite travel experience so far? Is there a place you would like to visit, either with TGS or on your own?
My favorite travel experience was our term in Australia. I had never lived in such a big city like Melbourne before, and it was incredible. We would wake up in our residence, get coffee or boba, and go to our workspace to discuss awesome topics in such a multicultural city. I challenged myself to discover as much of Melbourne as I could, like going to art galleries and museums and finding new spots where my friends and I could do a picnic and watch the sunset.
During our time in Australia, my module focused on social issues and activism in Australia, our home countries, and how it relates globally. We also had the amazing opportunity to visit the Australian outback for our weXplore and got to listen to the voices, stories, art, culture, and challenges of Aboriginal people who lived at the places we visited.
This module impacted me as it gave me such perspective on global issues and how change can be achieved, as our final summative product was to create an activist plan for change on a local issue in our home communities.
Do you have anything that you’d like to share with prospective students?
It is ok if you haven’t discovered your passions yet; as long as you are passionate about learning and finding new things out, you will thrive here.
