Below you will find answers to some of our most frequently asked questions regarding the COVID-19 pandemic. Any inquiries regarding our COVID-19 response that aren’t answered below can be directed to info@thinkglobalschool.org.
How is THINK Global School dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic?
Will THINK Global School survive the pandemic?
THINK Global School is a 501(c)3-status not-for-profit organization. One of two forms of revenue is student tuition, which is calculated on a need basis. Expenses not covered by student tuition are paid for by grants from the THINK Foundation, a private foundation set up by founder Joann McPike to provide long-term funding for the school and ensure broad economic diversity within the student body. The THINK Foundation has proven to be a reliable source of income over TGS’s 10+ year lifespan and has remained stable. We do not currently anticipate any changes to these income sources due to COVID-19, nor do we expect any changes to our scholarship fund.
Who should I consult regarding questions of tuition and financial aid?
We understand the global health crisis is causing negative ripples in many areas of your life, including your family’s economic stability. If you have any questions regarding tuition and financial aid concerns for the upcoming 2023-24 school year, THINK Global School’s Business Office is here to provide answers. Please reach out to info@thinkglobalschool.org with any questions you may have related to financial issues and the possible impact they may have on your child’s ability to attend THINK Global School.
Will tuition be discounted if the school does not travel for COVID-19 specific reasons?
During previous school years, a portion of the tuition was reimbursed to families for each term where THINK Global School did not travel out of regard for student and staff safety. A similar scheme will be assessed for the 2023-24 school year if the COVID-19 pandemic disrupts our predetermined travel plans, resulting in an online term.
How is THINK Global School navigating the pandemic?
With guidance from International SOS, our vendor for medical, security, travel, and emergency assistance, we have developed pandemic protocols in order to integrate them into our Emergency Action Plan.
Has THINK Global School transitioned to online learning?
Our Leadership Team made the decision to transition to online learning during Term 4 of the 2019-2020 school year through Term 4 of the 2020-21 school year. Our primary concern is the safety of our students. In conjunction with iSOS, our medical and security services company, TGS evaluated travel and immigration restrictions, quarantine rules for students and staff home locations in addition to term locations, gathering restrictions, and pandemic preparedness and response, and returned to travel for the 2021-22 school year. THINK Global School has continued traveling without interruption into the 2022-23 school year.
Are THINK Global School students provided with health insurance?
Our student health insurance policy, CISI, provides 100% coverage for COVID-19 when students are traveling with THINK Global School or in-country; however, students are not eligible for CISI coverage during times when they are in their home countries. This includes online terms and the five-week breaks students have in between countries. Families are expected to provide coverage of their own during these circumstances.
