Founded in 2010 by Joann McPike, THINK Global School brings together teens ages 15-18 to embark on a transformative journey centered around innovative academics, shared cultural experiences, and deeply held core values.

Each year, TGS students and our onsite staff travel to four countries together, with compassion serving as their compass and driven by the goal of unlocking the best versions of themselves. Every country provides an opportunity to learn from the wisdom of local communities, the echoes of historical sites, and the innumerable interactions that lie between.

At the end of their two to three-year journey, students graduate with a well-worn passport in one hand and a brand new diploma in the other, fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.

Alumni Testimonials

“As cliché as it may seem, my number one piece of advice for students about to join TGS is to be curious. Be curious to challenge your beliefs, be curious to explore who you are in the context of the world, and be curious to explore all the different ways you can learn. Traveling and learning at TGS will push you out of your comfort zone, but I encourage you to explore those moments.”

Rafael Waldman
The Netherlands

TGS empowered my ability to think, be independent, and adaptable. From deciding on learning criteria to building my final product, I could think and challenge myself through different projects. I comprehend how to lead independently by researching societal issues, contacting organizations, and conducting a service learning project.

If I had to give advice to students considering joining THINK Global School, I would tell them to go out there and experience the world! Don’t leave learning to just the classroom! Be open-minded, curious, and humble, but don’t forget that you also have something within you to share with the world. Enjoy the ride and take in all this world has to offer.

TGS helped me expand my views on what education looks like. I have learned that my value goes way beyond a grade, alongside the importance of reflecting throughout the learning process. As I continue to pursue my education, I look forward to incorporating the autonomy and risk-taking spirit I learned as a student at TGS.

The culture at TGS is genuinely unique. Joining 40 other nationalities gathered under one roof was the biggest culture shock I’ve experienced. I’ve had the opportunity to learn from each individual, gaining insights into their home culture and perspective on life. I’ve never been part of such an impactful community before, and I know it’s an experience I couldn’t find anywhere else.

Zaid Ahmed
Morocco

Before TGS, I was in a very traditional educational system. Even though it was rewarding for some people, it never worked for me, and I didn’t feel in control of my learning. I never felt like I was being prepared for the real world, which was the whole point of education to me. Coming to TGS changed my perception of what education can be.

At THINK Global School, we don’t just challenge our students to navigate unfamiliar geographical landscapes—we challenge them to explore unfamiliar academic ones as well. Throughout these challenges, we aim to teach students one key thing: how to believe in themselves.

It all begins with our award-winning Changemaker Curriculum, which seamlessly blends experiential learning with project-based learning to create projects relevant to each location TGS visits. Guided by our educators, students take full advantage of their surroundings to develop profound senses of global awareness, compassion, and perspective as they travel the world and ponder how they might impact it.

The best part? Academics at TGS are student-led, meaning you’ll have more agency and autonomy over your work than ever before. Imagine being presented with a driving question at the start of the term by your educators with near-unlimited ways to approach it. It’s up to you, often in collaboration with several of your classmates, to determine the solution to issues pertinent to the countries you find yourself in. It’s a real-world approach that emphasizes essential hard and soft skills, far beyond the reach of traditional textbooks.

What comes next after TGS? That’s totally up to you. While 94% of our graduates have gone on to university, we’re committed to helping you find the path that best suits your passions, skillset, and causes. Rest assured, you’ll leave with an education well-suited for success in our increasingly global world.

See A Real-Life Project from
Class of 2024 Alum Mishkatul

Mishkatul presented her mastery project, VRTouch, during the 2024 TGS Symposium, where we highlight some of the best projects from throughout the school year. For the project, Mishkatul aimed to integrate haptic technology with virtual reality (VR). Inspired by her early interest in creating devices, such as a traffic LED glove for her country’s congested roads, Mishkatul explored the potential of haptics to enhance VR experiences. She aimed to create a haptic device that allows users to feel weight and tactile sensations in a virtual environment.

Mishkatul’s project involved creating a haptic feedback glove with actuators that simulate pressure, temperature, texture, and weight. She encountered various challenges, particularly with soldering small components, but her passion and perseverance helped her overcome these obstacles. She constructed prototypes and tested them, integrating them with VR technology to create immersive experiences like a virtual gym.

If academics are the backbone of THINK Global School, then our community is its lifeblood. Although our student body is small, 34 students for the 2024-25 school year, it’s arguably the most diverse in the world. Our students hail from 18 countries, speak over 20 languages, and represent many socioeconomic backgrounds, ethnicities, sexual orientations, gender identities, and systems of belief. At TGS, it doesn’t matter where you come from — all that matters is you’re here and ready to be your authentic self.

Given our small student body, we’re able to provide students with the individualized attention they need and deserve. Our school counselor, educators, and support staff work with each student to develop an action plan focused on physical, academic, and social-emotional balance. By appreciating that every students’ needs are unique, we can help them achieve their goals of a healthy, active, and well-rounded life.

And while our academics are intensive, we also emphasize exploration, curiosity, and fun! So go explore world-famous museums, be curious about local dishes, and have silent dance parties in city squares with your classmates. After all, you’re only a teenager once, so why not make memories you’ll remember for the rest of your life?
