2020 has been a year marked by change, both for the world and THINK Global School as an institution. Covid-19 has disrupted schools in every country, with THINK Global School being no exception. Opportunities for our students to learn firsthand in Greece, Botswana, and Bosnia & Herzegovina have all been replaced with online projects, and remote learning will continue to occur until the world is safe for our staff and...

All students participated in a project-based learning module titled "Creativity in the Time of COVID-19," which called on them to answer the following driving question: How might I grow my creativity during the COVID-19 crisis through exploring the science of creativity and innovation and...

Chris Peterson is father to Class of 2020 Graduate Chase Peterson, a native of California's Bay Area who lived and learned in eight countries during his two years with THINK Global School’s CM2 cohort.  Hi Chris, can you share how you and your family arrived at the decision for Chase to attend THINK Global School?  I don't think a parent can choose TGS for their child. TGS is so completely...

1) Hi Samaya, can you tell us what you’ve been up to since graduating in 2017?  It’s strange to think that I’ve been away from TGS for three years already. After moving around so much with TGS it did take a bit of adjusting to settle into one place, but I’ve now made London a home. I’m in the final year of my undergraduate law degree at King’s College London...

The hike was so fulfilling and I felt a lot during different times of the hike. I felt joy, pain, satisfaction, helplessness, and a whole range of emotions. -Class of 2021 Student Vansh C. Our Chile term centered around The THINK Global Leadership Expedition, a twelve-day backpacking expedition in the sparse and ruggedly beautiful region of Patagonia. The expedition was designed to enhance our students’ leadership and teamwork skills in an...

Recently our Changemaker Cohort 2 (CM2) students completed their term in Panama, one of Latin America’s most strategically important countries. The visit marked our first term in Panama (we’ve visited its neighbor Costa Rica twice) and given the positive reception it received from students, it certainly shouldn’t be our last. Long a crossroads for culture and business due to the canal that runs through it, Panama made perfect sense as...

While our CM1 students were down under in Melbourne, Australia, our CM2 students found themselves in a very different part of the world: Oman. The wadis, dunes, peaks, and beaches of this small seafaring nation pair nicely with the low-rise architecture of Muscat, Oman’s capital and our host city, providing the perfect environment for our students to explore Oman’s culture, history, and issues. Orientation Shortly after their arrival in Muscat,...

This fall our CM1 students traveled down under to Melbourne, Australia, for their term in one of the world’s most livable cities. Known for its dynamic art scene, ethnically diverse restaurants, and fervent love of all things sports, adding multicultural Melbourne to our travel calendar was a no-brainer. Best of all, visiting between the months of October and November promised springlike weather throughout the duration of our stay.  Viktoria L,...

Term One is officially in the books! Our CM1 community was based in Sabah, Malaysia's capital city of Kota Kinabalu, which serves as a gateway to the island's many natural splendors. Beaches, reefs, mountains, and rainforests became a classroom for students as they became familiar with the beliefs, practices, and traditions shaping modern Sabah. Students attended hands-on sessions during the term with four prevalent ethnicities: Chinese, Malay, Indian, and Indigenous....

Sabah is playing the role of a “classroom” for 34 international students as they spend two months learning about the State’s diversity and acquiring fresh experiences that they may incorporate into their lives back home. The students, aged between 15 and 17, are from the New York-based Think Global School – the world’s first traveling high school. They live and study in a different country every semester, engaging in place-based and project-based learning pertinent to the nations they visit.

Where and how do you learn? How do you develop a passion for curiosity? How do you keep your mind open to new people, ideas, and possibilities? These are all questions being faced by educators and students as our world gains a more global context.  For a rare few who are lucky enough to have talented and equally curious teachers, this might happen in the confines of the classroom. But...

Hi Andy, tell us a bit about yourself. I grew up in the beautiful industrial city of Birmingham, and after a career in mental health work and various bits and bobs, I qualified to become a teacher. 1. Hi Maxim. It's been two years now since you graduated from THINK Global School. What have you been up to in that time?  Since graduating from TGS, I have been attending the University of Toronto studying mineral (mining) engineering. I know you might be asking why, out of all engineering, I chose mineral engineering? It's because I want to throw myself into the space mining industry. I figured it...
