THINK Global School is thrilled to welcome back Jen Buchanan, who previously worked with TGS from 2016 to 2018. Since her time at TGS, Jen has continued to shape her career as a future-focused educator and leader. Back in Australia, she held roles including Head of Secondary at Preshil School in Melbourne and Head of Tay Creggan at Strathcona Girls Grammar. She also worked as a consultant with Future Schools Alliance and as Director of Engagement at Future Anything, supporting innovative approaches to teaching and learning across the country.

Known for her commitment to creating positive, equitable, and engaging learning environments, Jen is a passionate advocate for student agency and creative potential. Her work is grounded in a belief that education should ignite curiosity, support wellbeing, and empower all students to thrive. With a wealth of “on-the-ground” experience in progressive and trailblazing schools, Jen brings a deep understanding of what it takes to implement meaningful change and is committed to evolving learning experiences that reflect our changing world.

Jen is also a dedicated lifelong learner. She holds a Master of Education from The University of Melbourne, where her research explored how schools can increase opportunities for students to experience “flow,” a state of deep engagement in learning. More recently, she completed a second Master’s degree at Deakin University, where her research focused on the experiences of graduate teachers as they enter the profession.

Outside the classroom, Jen is a self-confessed adventure-seeker and creative spirit. She’s happiest when off the grid, hiking through the bush, camping under the stars, or discovering hidden corners of the world with a backpack and a sense of curiosity. When she’s not exploring new landscapes, she’s immersed in the creative process at home in Melbourne, where she’s a part-time artist. From wheel-thrown ceramics to quirky short films, Jen’s artistic projects reflect her playful energy and love of storytelling. Whether in the wild or in the studio, she brings the same sense of wonder and creativity that defines her work in education.
