Heidi Albrecht

1. Tell us a bit about yourself. Where are you from and what were you doing before arriving at THINK Global School?

Before joining TGS I was working in the Cayman Islands. Prior to that, I was in Kuwait; before that, I was in Cambodia; before that, the Republic of Korea (South Korea); and before that, the United States. I did my tertiary schooling in the United States and the United Kingdom. I thoroughly enjoy teaching social studies and helping students discover the causes of issues we see today and solutions to them.

2.What aspects of THINK Global School’s educational model do you find most appealing?

PBL! I love teaching material that is relevant to the places I am in. I get so excited when I can find guest speakers and locations that show my students just how interesting the world really is.

3. Describe your teaching style or philosophy. Do you have any unique teaching methods to keep students engaged?

Pedagogically, I’m a constructivist. I love introducing new things to students and watching their fascination with the subject unfold. I thoroughly enjoy discussions where you can see their thinking and appreciation for the subject develop.

4. What is your most memorable travel experience so far?

Probably my visit to Angkor Archaeological Park. The temples and history cannot be overstated.

5. If you could visit anywhere in the world, where would it be?

Challenger Deep in the Mariana Trench! I just need the right submarine…

6. What is your favorite book, and why?

I really don’t have a favorite, but I recently read The Lost City of Z by David Grann and thoroughly enjoyed it, likely because the exploration themes resonated with me.
