1. Can you share a bit about your journey? Where are you from, and how has THINK Global School played an important role in your life?

I call home anywhere fresh air and greenery prevail. I was born just outside Mexico City and raised in a beautiful little town tucked away in the woods, which basically made me a certified butterfly enthusiast and unapologetic tree hugger from an early age.

Growing up in a place that was objectively small, but at the time felt like it contained everything I needed, my acceptance into TGS completely changed the way I understood cause and effect. Suddenly, the whole world became my playground.

I rediscovered how extraordinary life can be when you’re standing somewhere that makes you think, “I’m nowhere close to home, am I?”. There’s something magical about placing your younger self in a place that seems to have nothing in common with you, only to slowly uncover all the things that do.

Little by little, you become part of every place you visit, and every place leaves a little piece of itself in you. You can’t help but become a witness to beauty…constantly curious, endlessly wandering, and forever filled with wonder.

2. As a former student and now a staff member, what aspects of THINK Global School’s educational model stand out to you the most?

The Changemaker Curriculum gave my confidence the space to fully bloom. After that, nothing felt impossible… and, optimistically, I still believe very little truly is.

One of the greatest gifts of a Project-Based Learning education was being asked a question no one had ever asked me before: What do you want to learn?

At first, that question sends you into a spiral. When you’ve spent years being told what to study, choosing your own direction can feel overwhelming. But once you discover your spark, learn to trust your curiosity, and experience what it feels like to be genuinely passionate about something—anything, really—you begin to approach the world differently. 🙂
There’s something transformative about standing in a place of awe and discovery. Once you’ve experienced that feeling, pursuing new ideas no longer seems intimidating. The cognitive habits and practical skills you’ve built along the way become second nature, making every new challenge feel a little closer, a little more possible, and 100% worth following.

3. How does it feel to return to TGS, this time as part of the team? What are you most looking forward to in this new role?

I don’t think you ever truly leave TGS. But returning to a day-to-day where words like module, stipend, and bed checks are part of the conversation instantly reconnects me with my teenage self. It’s a true privilege to have been part of this story from both sides. I’m incredibly excited to witness those aha! moments again, the ones where someone’s eyes light up, a smile appears before they even realize it, and you can almost see a new way of thinking taking shape.

4. Reflecting on your time as a TGS student, what’s one of your most memorable experiences? How did travel shape your perspective during that time?

Some experiences become branching points in your life. Everything before them feels like one story, and everything after becomes another. That’s why Botswana will always be the first flutter of my butterfly effect.

That’s where I met two of my best friends (even though we all came from the same country). It was also the first place where I truly felt challenged, where I discovered that growth often feels like a mix of relief, excitement, and the kind of nervous, stomach-in-knots fear that tells you something meaningful is about to happen. It was also where I checked off three bucket-list dreams in a single day: traveling to the other side of the world on my own, standing just a few feet away from one of the largest animals on Earth, and gazing up at the stars from the Southern Hemisphere.

I once heard someone say that travel breaks the illusion that the life you’re currently living is the only one possible. Therapy uses words, but travel uses experience.

5. Which of our core values do you feel you most embody, and why?

Compassion has always been something I’ve naturally gravitated toward. But over time, I’ve realized it’s deeply connected to another value I love: Meraki – putting all of yourself, your soul, your creativity, and your love into what you do.

Learning through passion and approaching the world with a sense of awe always brings me back to these two ideas. When you’re genuinely passionate about something, you can’t help but give it your whole self. And when you allow yourself to be fully present in a place, with an idea, or with another person, compassion follows naturally.

I’ve learned that you can’t experience life halfway. You can’t care halfway. You can’t truly connect with people or places halfway. The moments that shape us most are the ones we show up for wholeheartedly.

6. What’s a book that has inspired you recently, and why does it resonate with you?

I’d find it incredible if my answer ever changed, because that would mean I’d discovered a book I love even more than this one. But for now, Sapiens will always be my answer. I think there’s something truly fascinating about exploring the history of humankind and all the circumstances that had to intertwine for us to become who we are today. What I love most is the way this book challenges the stories we tell ourselves about our past. It invites you to question what feels obvious, to see history from a different perspective, and to realize just how improbable—and extraordinary—our existence really is.
