I think that growing up in Israel makes reality especially unpredictable, so I think one of my favorite overall experiences at TGS was arriving in New Zealand for my first term. I think what I realized then is what you see on tv is very different from reality. I came to a part of the world where it’s so peaceful and the landscapes are amazing and the people are all united and together, and these are things that you wouldn’t expect to fall in love with. Waking up every day and realizing there wouldn’t be an alarm waking you up in the middle of the night, and that not all kids go to the army. It’s just showing you a different world. The people and the places and the experiences give you a set of tools that you can always play around with and use in different parts of your life. I think if I want to send a little message to the future of TGS, mainly, come open minded, think that people are going to like you as they are. The places you are going to see aren’t the same as the tv, and sometimes you will think to yourself “How was I lucky enough to travel here?” “How was I lucky enough to get into this school?” Just take advantage of this moment with these people because you don’t know when you’ll see them again.
